Passionate about excellence in education and holistic student development, Mr Lewis regards himself as the caretaker for the climate and culture of the school, firmly believing that a teacher’s role is not only to instruct and teach, but also to ensure that this learning is achieved in a meaningful and relevant way. This is accomplished through a standards-based curriculum, coaching students to be thoughtful and effective communicators and treating students as individuals who can gain timely, structured and personalized feedback in their learning journey.
Mr. Lewis has a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from San Diego State University, a Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia and certifications from the Summer Writing Institute, the Harvard Graduate School of Education and the Principal Training Centre for the International School of Leadership.
Having held teaching and leadership posts in Manila, Riyadh, Shanghai, Mr Lewis joined ISHCMC – American Academy in 2015 from Bodwell High School, North Vancouver, Canada where he served as Principal. This experience in both middle and high schools has endowed him with an unparalleled ability to understand how students learn across advancing age groups.
Mr Lewis encourages communication and feedback from parents and members of staff as he sets out to maintain and enhance the profile of ISHCMC – American Academy as a leading university preparatory secondary school.
