ISHCMC-American Academy (ISHCMC-AA) is a leading American curriculum secondary school in Ho Chi Minh City, inspiring and challenging students aged 11 to 18 years old to achieve academic and personal success. One of the central premises of our school mission is to provide students with the opportunity to undertake a higher education in Vietnam or overseas.
In today’s globalised employment market it is an extreme advantage for an individual to have studied at university or college level, and to speak more than one language. To this end our effective teaching practices and curriculum have been based upon the standards of the American education system. Fluency in the English language is also essential for acceptance at universities abroad, therefore a key focus for every one of our learners is to achieve fluency in the English language.
ISHCMC-AA English as an Additional Language Program (EAL)
At ISHCMC-AA we offer full immersion in the English language and the majority of subjects across our curriculum are taught in English to prepare students for study and life within any university program. Our English as an Additional Language (EAL) program is an essential resource that provides free English language support for any child that needs help with learning English.
Our EAL resources are based on the World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDATM) framework and assessments, a program aligned with US standards in English – covering essential social, instructional and academic aspects of the language.
The ISHCMC-AA EAL program involves a comprehensive schedule of reading and writing workshops that help develop vocabulary, reading comprehension and essay writing skills. The sound proficiency in the English language gained via these courses will allow every student the opportunity to apply for a higher education in many universities across the world.
“Complete immersion in the English language develops high proficiency, with over 50% of our
students achieving above grade level English.” Quote from Head Teacher … |
