At ISHCMC-American Academy (ISHCMC-AA) we provide children with the skills to be lifelong learners and the hearts and minds to be caring global citizens.
The faculty at ISHCMC-AA are committed to the Positive Education model, a teaching methodology that focuses on the development of the whole child. To achieve this important goal we ensure that our learning practices equally address a student’s physical, social and creative needs as well as their academic studies.
ISHCMC–AA is also a keen advocate for agency in learning, a teaching practice where students take an active role in their own education, and subsequently the ownership and responsibility for what they learn.
The benefits of an agency focused education are long lasting and they empower an individual to continue to learn long after they have left school.
No single element of learning works in isolation and our teaching methods go far beyond the classroom to provide context for real life experiences. At ISHCMC-AA we prepare our students to be lifelong learners and inspire them to be a good citizen that cares about both their local and global communities.
Inspiring future global citizens
An important part of our teaching program is the requirement for students to participate in one of our special field trips that take place across Southeast Asia. These innovative courses motivate young people to take an interest in a variety of subjects including history, global issues,
Every trip offers students a chance to engage with the local community in a meaningful way and enrich their cultural understanding, and gain leadership, teamwork and decision-making skills.
It is always heartening to hear students affirm they are more likely to participate in their communities after undertaking a ISHCMC-AA field trip.
Quote
At first I was scared but I made some of the best memories with my friends during our Grade 11 field trip. We came together as a team for the Sun Bear Scramble in Hoi An and Hue and overcame many difficult challenges to win points for our team! Phuong Uyen, Grade 11 |
