At ISHCMC-American Academy one of our key philosophies is to consistently provide sour students with a positive, caring and engaging learning community. The wellbeing of the children in our care is a critical aspect of every part of the curriculum that we provide. Therefore it has been profoundly important to implement and maintain a comprehensive program of services for students and parents to access whenever they need support in relation to a child’s wellbeing.

Teenage development
Teaching staff and counsellors at ISHCMC-AA recognise that during teenage years our students can be particularly affected by their ongoing physical and mental growth. During the adolescent phase a human being faces profound changes in brain and functional development as they make the transition from childhood into adulthood.
Not every child is affected profoundly by these changes during their teenage years, nor does every child show clear signs of a problem dealing with these issues. However there is clear scientific evidence to suggest that there is a neurobiological reason for impulsive behaviour and emotional stress in adolescents. Therefore the ISHCMC-AA faculty can provide additional and specific support to children and their parents who are affected during this phase.
ISHCMC-AA Wellbeing Support Services
The support services we provide are comprehensive and are available as a constant measure, in the form of appointed advisory teachers, and when relevant, as specific counselling sessions. One Advisory Teacher is assigned to each student and they are responsible for the general welfare of that individual child. Counseling is provided to assist with problems in any area related to academic, social, personal and career development and these beneficial services are available to both students and parents.
The Student Services Department
The ISHCMC-AA Student Services Department handles issues related to student well-being, parent communication, peer mediation and more. The department strongly believes that every student has the potential to do well in school, and with proper mentoring can be supported to develop positive skills and habits that aid them in school and their personal lives.
More details and contact information for the support services provided at ISHCMC-AA can be found in the school prospectus which can be downloaded here.
